I benchmarked the WoW Forever beta on Linux using an RTX 5070 Ti and Ryzen 7 5800X3D, testing native 4K, 1440p, 1080p and lower render scales across several graphics presets. System: • AMD X570 chipset • AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D • 64 GB DDR4-3200 • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16 GB • NVIDIA Open Kernel Modules 610.57.04 • Linux kernel 6.12.107 • Debian 13 "Trixie" • Lutris Flatpak • GE-Proton 11.6 • DirectX 12 → vkd3d-proton → Vulkan • WoW Forever Beta 1.60.1.70009 0:00 WoW Forever benchmark 0:31 Test system – RTX 5070 Ti + 5800X3D 1:22 MangoHud and the test environment 3:35 Linux, NVIDIA driver and GE-Proton setup 4:37 Native 4K – maximum settings 6:00 1440p benchmark 7:28 1080p benchmark 8:15 720p benchmark 8:37 Graphics presets and Secondary Lighting 9:55 FSR render scaling at 4K 11:11 720p render scale – still GPU bound 13:04 Testing a busier area 14:37 Native 4K again 15:18 Maximum preset performance 15:30 60 FPS cap and GPU utilization 16:18 Graphics presets 7 and 4 17:54 4K output with 1440p render scale 18:49 The big takeaway – WoW Forever is GPU heavy 19:58 Final thoughts The most interesting result is just how GPU-heavy WoW Forever currently is. At native 4K and maximum settings the RTX 5070 Ti is essentially fully utilized, while reducing resolution and graphics settings produces large performance gains. I also test different render scales, graphics presets, Secondary Lighting and a 60 FPS cap to show how GPU utilization changes. The beta currently lacks modern temporal upscalers such as DLSS, newer FSR implementations and XeSS, which would be particularly useful given how GPU-bound the game can be. This was recorded on September 25, 2026, during the WoW Forever beta. Performance, graphics settings and optimization may change significantly before release. OBS was recording the benchmark on the same GPU, so the numbers should be treated as a real-world performance test rather than a laboratory benchmark.
