I've tried WoW a few times over the years, but jumping into a game with more than 20 years of history always felt a little overwhelming. Forever feels like a chance to start closer to the beginning and actually learn the game as I go. I'm playing a Skyborne Mage in the Forever Beta, completely blind when it comes to most WoW lore and mechanics. Expect lots of figuring things out, running out of mana, questionable combat decisions, corpse runs, and trying to understand what exactly is happening to Zephras Isle. And yes — I'm playing WoW on Linux. The beta currently has some interesting Linux quirks: I'm running in DX12 mode, ray-traced shadows aren't available on my GPU according to the game, and performance is noticeably worse than Retail. I also had to work around a few crashes before the stream. If you're a WoW veteran, feel free to explain the lore, mechanics and all the things I'm inevitably doing wrong.
